Marcus Aurelius was born in a royal family at the time when the new establishment of the Roman Empire was set into motion. After the death of Aurelius’s father, Antoninus Pius, the uncle of Marcus adopted him. During his childhood, Aurelius gained knowledge of Latin and Greek language. He was also a pious student. With age, he started to showcase interest in philosophical subjects.
Aurelius ruled the great Roman Empire from 161 till 180. His period of reign came as the golden age. Marcus also served in the Roman consul during 140, 145 as well as 161. During the time of his reign, Aurelius also had to deal with military unrest and he also did modification in the purity of silver which was used as Roman currency. When he served in consul, Aurelius started to study subjects related to law and he developed a keen interest in politics. He liked to take more responsibilities of the consul and gave his 100% to work with perfection.

During his reign as a king, Aurelius had to face several issues. One major issue that he faced was when he had to defend his throne against Cassius. During that period, Aurelius was very ill and Cassius planned to dethrone him, but luckily Marcus’s adversary got killed by his men.
Furthermore, Aurelius had to fight mightily against the German army which was trying to invade the Roman Empire. While fighting the Germans, Aurelius made Commodus the co-ruling authority of the Roman Empire.

As per this exercise, Marcus Aurelius stated that one should stop pitying himself and concentrate on the inner power. Aurelius also wrote that with sheer wisdom and practice one can easily focus on the potential which is present in every other individual. With inner potential, it is very easy to conduct virtuous actions that will help an individual to accomplish any goal in life.

In this stoic exercise, Marcus Aureliusemphasized self-regulation which helped individuals to make a great change in one. When a person starts to control his or her desires and acts wisely then every other goal seems to be achievable. With the help of this stoic exercise, one can prepare himself for the worst-case scenario in the future. Thus, he or she will give 100% at present for every other task.
Drawing Energy From Others
Marcus also wrote another exercise in which he stated how a person can get positivity from others which will help him or her in achieving anything. Aurelius had tried this exercise on the battlefield against his several rivals and had excelled with flying colors. Furthermore, it was stated that one should also write encouragement notes to self which offers a great deal of ease in accomplishing any goal in the future.
